Socialism often stems from a desire for compassion, but capitalism is rooted in rationality. While there are flaws in capitalism, the solution lies in providing equal opportunities rather than enforcing equal outcomes through coercion. With my family, I adopt a communist perspective; with close friends, I'm a socialist; at the state level, I lean towards being a Democrat; at higher levels, I identify as a Republican; and at the federal level, I consider myself a libertarian. The larger the group, the less trust there is, leading to more cheating and misaligned incentives. In smaller groups, like a kibbutz or commune, being a socialist is more appropriate.
