During our pitch, we cleverly placed pre-recorded videos under the demo cells to create the illusion of live content, which captivated investors' attention.

We launched our product at a startup demo conference, despite initial skepticism from others about our idea, and faced challenges in recruiting a PR firm due to the prevailing negative sentiment. At Beme, we learned that raw live content can quickly become boring, so we aimed to create a product that feels fun and engaging, similar to watching an edited movie.

Despite having a promising product, we struggled to secure investment, leading us to consider launching on Kickstarter, which was suggested by Paul Graham. We built our Kickstarter page and filmed the video ourselves, starring our friends and interns.

I launched Airbnb in August 2008 without a presentation deck, relying solely on the live website, which ultimately failed during a pitch to an investor.

Our early pitch for Figma was unfocused, but we were fortunate to have investors who believed in our potential to figure things out as we progressed.
